Frontier Energy Solutions FAQ’s
What is the typical payback period for a renewable energy system?
Renewable energy systems as well as building performance upgrades start to pay for themselves the minute they are installed. Therefore it is better to discuss the economics of renewable energy systems and energy efficiency in terms of return on investment.
What is the quickest return on investment and most economical way to reduce my annual energy bills?
Our energy efficiency program concentrates on increasing building energy performance including lighting, air sealing and insulation upgrades. This program allows for the highest return on investment out of any of our services.
How long does the Free Energy Assessment take and what does it include?
Typically the Assessment takes 2 – 3 Hours to be performed. During this time your heating and hot water appliances are evaluated and checked for safe operation, insulation levels and air sealing potential are evaluated and energy saving CFL (compact fluorescent) light bulbs can be installed for free!
What is cellulose insulation?
Cellulose insulation is %85 post consumer recycled newspaper product. Cellulose is a Class 1 fire rated building material that is approved for use in both existing and new homes. Cellulose insulation is treated with boric acid which is a naturally occuring non-toxic substance that is highly effective at mold, pest and fire resistance.
Why is cellulose better than fiberglass insulation?
Cellulose is a superior product to fiberglass insulation for many reasons. Cellulose loose fill has an R-Value of 3.7 per inch versus 3 per inch for Fiberglass. Fiberglass insulation requires 30 times more energy to produce versus cellulose insulation. Cellulose is %85 recycled content versus %30 for fiberglass. Cellulose is more effective at sound attenuation in comparison with fiberglass. Blown in cellulose insulation creates a continuous blanket of insulation where as for fiberglass batt insulation true thermal continuity is hard to achieve. Finally, when installed properly in walls cellulose insulation is highly effective at stopping air flow in comparison with fiberglass insulation.
Can I heat my pool with a solar energy system?
Yes, solar thermal pool heaters can be installed to heat your pool and in many cases offers the highest return on investment of any solar energy system.
Do all solar electric (PV) systems require batteries?
No, in fact most of the solar electric systems today are “grid tied” and require no batteries. This allows for “net metering,” where the consumer is credited for the electricity produced.
How tall is a typical residential sized wind turbine?
Residential wind turbines are typically between 60 and 150 feet tall.
Where can you mount a residential wind turbine?
Local zoning issues vary, but ideally in an open area free from any trees or houses within the height of the tower.
How do I figure out what rebates are available for the installation of my renewable energy system?
All rebate issues are navigated by the Frontier and are presented to the customer as part of the overall pricing of the system.
